December 1996...Our organization continues to make an annual contribution of $600 to the Shepherd Center in Eastlake.

January 1997...Our nominee, Golden Payne, was named "Women of Year" sponsored by the Birmingham Professional Women's Club at The Club on January 16, 1997.
April 1997...A reception was held at Jefferson State Community College for the Student Art Competition. Three awards were made to the top art students during the reception.
May 1997...The seventh Gala was held at Boutwell Auditorium with $51,898.00 raised for the Hospice Program at Medical Centre East.
Glenda Burson was the first recipient of the "Women Archives" award sponsored by Jefferson State Community College and the Women's Committee of Fifty. The announcement was made at the Annual Awards Night for Jefferson Community College.
For the past ten years (1987-1997) our organization has made a contribution to the Shepherd Center in East Lake. Contribution the year was $600.00.
September 1997...Provided support to the Wine and Cheese Open House given by Tony Serra in support of the Boys and Girls Club, Chalkville Facility.
October 1997...Held a White Elephant Auction for the members and guests with the proceeds from the auction going toward the $1,000 donation to Shepherd Center East.
December 1997...Christmas Tree Lighting at Medical Center East. Revenues earned for the East End Memorial Foundation was $3,135.00.
January 1998...Provided a reception for the Ground Breaking Ceremonies for the Boys and Girls Club, Chalkville Facility.
April 1998...The eighth charity benefit was held at The Club with $30,000.00 being raised for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Alabama - Chalkville Facility.
A reception was held at Jefferson State Community College for the Student Art Competition.
Goldie Payne was the second recipient of the Women Archives award sponsored by Jefferson State Community College and the Eastern Women's Committee of Fifty. The reception and award presentation was held at the Gabriella House.
May 1998...A scholarship award was presented to Chad Daniel Adcock $1,000 at the Annual Awards Night for Jefferson State Community College.
October 1998...The fall charity event was held at the Comedy Club and featured comedian, Heath Hyche. $10,000 was raised to benefit the Boys and Girls Club in Chalkville.
November 1998...Christmas Tree Lighting at Medical Center East. Medical Center East Foundation benefited $3,500 from this event. Miss North Jefferson County, Jana Sanderson, and Dr. Feister provided entertainment.
December 1998...Individuals participated in the Angel Tree project at Brookwood Mall and made donations to AYS/Chalkville.
March 1999...Provided rocking chairs for the renovated waiting room at Family Court. Members attended the dedication ceremony, presided over by Judge Sandra Storm.
April 1999...White Elephant Sale provided $700 and plenty of laughs at the regular business meeting. Unsold items went to Shepherd Center for their sale. (EWCF has two regular board members at the center)
Annual Eastern Area Art Show held at Jefferson State Community College. Reception followed announcements of winners.
May 1999...President Patricia Moore presented the EWCF annual scholarship at Jefferson State, presented Women's Archives Award to Hazel Butts.
November 1999...Christmas Tree Lighting at Medical Center East. Santa Claus (Bill Weaver) delighted the children of all ages. Entertainment was by Bob Daily and The Top Cats Harmonica Group and Allen Gillespie's Choral group from Clay-Chalkville High School. Proceeds went to East End Memorial Foundation.
December 1999...EWCF annual Christmas Party was held at The Club.
February 2000...Gala 2000 was held at the Alabama Theater with over 200 guests seated on stage. Decorations were breathtaking with orchids and candles gracing tables. Entertainment provided by runner-up to Miss Alabama and "Three On A String". $32,500 was raised and divided among four charities - Boys and Girls Club- Chalkville Facility, Liz Moore Low Vision Center, Jefferson State Community College and The Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham.
April 2000...White Elephant Sale. Revenue was $824.50. A reception was held at Jefferson State Community College for the Student Art Competition. Students were from Hewitt Trussville, Clay Chalkville, Pinson Valley and Erwin High School. Kim Nall from Pelham High was the judge.
Donated $200.00 to the Shepard Center to be used for rain damage to their roof.
May 2000...Installation of officers - year 2000-2001 at The Club. Linda Keenum received "The Founders Award" presented annually by Charter Members.
1999-2000...EWCF voted to spend up to $3,000 to furnish the Women's Archives Room at Jefferson State Community College.
August 2000...Summer party at JoAnne & Albert Morton's lake home.
September 2000...Wine & Cheese Social at the home of Jo & Ralph Markham- benefit was Cancer Resource Room at Medical Center East.
November 2000...White Elephant Sale - raised over $1,000 for charities.
December 2000...Annual Christmas Tree Light with Medical Center East; record breaking attendance close to 400.
April 2001...EWCF Christmas Party was held at the home of Mary and Clyde Turner. Annual Art Show competition for area high school students held at Jefferson State Community College followed by a reception to announce the winners. Over 100 attendees. Tarrant HS was added this year.
President Joyce Allred presented the EWCF annual scholarship at Jefferson State to Merle Virginia Shillito.
May 2001...Women's Archives awards for 2000 and 2001 were presented by Grace Kelly to Martha Gaskins and Dr. Mary Jean Sanspree. A recognition ceremony was held at the library of Jefferson State for this presentation.
Gala 2001 - "A Nigh of Candlelight and Music" was held at the Sheraton Civic Center. Over $50,000 was raised to benefit the Glenda Brown Cancer Resource Center. Glenda was a former member of EWCF. Honorary Chair was Dr. Charles Morrison - husband of Lou Jean Morrison.
New member orientation was held at the home of Harriott Clahoun, memberswhip chairman; included were the membership committee and new members.
EWCF honored our own Marge Dyches with a Gold Leaf on the "Tree of Life" located in the atrium of Medical Center East. This represents a contribution of $500 to the Medical Center East Foundation.
$500 contributed to Boys & Girls Cluab in the name of EWCF by an anonymous donation.
Installation of officers for 2001 - 2002 was held at the June meeting. Jo Anne Morton was the recipient of "The Founders Award" presented each year by Charter Members to an outstanding EWCF members.
August 2001...A summer social was held at the home of Jo and Ralph Markham.
November 2001...During an EWC meeting, a White Elephant Sale raised $820.00.
The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, held in the Medical Center East Atrium, was attended by approximately 300 people. Entertainment was provided by Choral Group "Tapestry".
December 2001...The annual Christmas Party was held at Summit Club.
April 2002...EWCF's major fundraiser was a Golf Tournament held at Grayson Valley Country Club with 26 teams participating, 27 tournament sponsors, and 52 hole sponsors. This even raised $14,688.35.
The Annual Art Show competition for eastern area high school students was held at Jefferson State Community College Library. A reception followed the announcement of winners.
May 2002...A reception was held at Gariella House to induct Commissioner Bettye Fine Collins into the Women's Archives located at Jefferson State Community College. Approximately 75 people were present.
President Carolyn Rasbury presented EWCF's annual scholarship established at Jefferson State to Anita Williams.
Checks in the amount of $5,169.45 were presented to each of the charities chosen for EWC year 2001-2002. (Angle Flight, Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham, Jefferson State Community College).
Installation of Officers for 2002-2003 was held at Medical Center East with light refreshments afterward. JoAda Weaver was the recipient of the Founders Award.
