August 2002...A summer social was held at the home of Jo and Ralph Markham. 49 members and guests attended the social. First Vice-President Joan Norred coordinated the social.
Sept 2002...$500 was donated to the YWCA Childcare Program for homeless and otherwise at-risk children.
October 2002...Members donated 420 books for patients at Children's Hospital. This project was collaborative effort with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Alabama and Children's Hospital.
Members toured the Glenda Brown Room in the Medical Center Cancer Treatment Center.
November 2002...The annual white elephant auction at the monthly meeting netted $964.25 for the Liz Moore Low Vision Center.
December 2002...EWCF partnered with the Eastern Health Foundation for the annual Christmas tree lighting at Medical Center East. Approximately 450 members of the community attended the event.
The annual Christmas social was held at the Men's Grill at The Club. 46 members and guests attended the dinner party.
February 2003...In conjunction with Jefferson State Community College Foundation, a reception was held at the home of Ron and Liz Moore to recognize Connie Cooper for the Women's Archives. Approximately 80 guests attended the reception.
March 2003...In conjunction with the Jefferson State Community College Foundation and the Southern Women's Community of Fifty, a reception honoring the civic contributions of Irene Collins was held at Jefferson State Community College. Approximately 200 guests attended the reception.
April 2003...The annual charity golf tournament was held at Grayson Valley Country Club to raise funds for the Liz Moore Low Vision Center. $17,700.00 was netted for the Liz Moore Low Vision Center. 31 teams participated.
The annual art show was held a Jefferson State Community College. Approximately 20 students from area schools displayed their artwork in the show. A reception honoring the students followed the show.
May 2003...President Linda Hooton presented the EWCF scholarship to Brenda Stewart of Jefferson State Community College's Honors Convocation. The program was held at Hilldale Baptist Church.
EWCF provided $1,800.50 to sponsor a kindergarten classroom at the Paine Elementary School. The classroom of member Tamea Barnes was selected for sponsorship and will have a plaque designating the classroom as the "Eastern Women's Committee of Fifty" Room.
June 2003...Installation of 2003-2004 officers conducted at a dinner party in the Inn Room at The Club. A check totaling $17,000 was presented to Madelyn Jones, director of the Liz Moore Low Vision Center. Liz and Ron Moore, Matt Holdbrooks and Buddy Aydelette attended as representatives of the Eastern Health Foundation. Brenda Stewart, the 2003 EWCF scholarship recipient, and her two daughters were introduced to the members. Jean Ivey was awarded the Founder's Award.
1986 - 2003...To date the EWCF has helped to generate more than %525,000.00 to various areas of Medical Center East. The total generated for all our charities during our seventeen years is more than $800,000.00.
September 2003...$2,000.00 added to the Jefferson State Community College bringing our total scholarship endowment to $17,000.
October 2003...Fifteen members donated five hours each to bag merchandise at the opening of Kohl's Department Store earning money for our charity of $437.50.
November 2003...The annual White Elephant Auction was a smashing even earning $1,566.00 toward club expense. The successful raffle of two beautiful donated diamond rings brought $3,038.34 to our charity account.
December 2003...EWCF partnered with the Eastern Health Foundation for the annual Christmas tree lighting at Medical Center East. Approximately 500 members of the community attended this event.
The annual Christmas was a gala affair held at Old Overton Country Club. 56 members and guests danced to music of The One Man Band, Ray Newman.
January 2004...During this time Betty Hurst and Betty Nash were representing our organization at the Shepherd Center which we support annually. Connie Cooper and JoAda Weaver were collecting books for Children's Hospital. Over three hundred books were collected during 2003-2004.
February 2004...Partnering with Jefferson State Community Colege we were pleased to honor an outstanding woman in Alabama. our own JoAda Weaver was honored with The Women's Archives Award.
March 2004...All members of the organization, with Ann Fulmer at the helm, were working 150% toward the success of the Annual Golf Tournament.
April 2004...The 14th Annual Art Competition for high school artist was held at the Library of Jefferson State Community College. Approximately 36 students exhibited their work. A reception honoring the students, parents and teachers was enjoyed.
The premier event of the year, our Annual Golf Tournament, was staged at Grayson Valley Country Club. $17,524.16 was raised for our charity, The Bone Densitometry Area Women's Center at Medical Center East.
May 2004...President Jo Jones presented the EWCF scholarship to Kimberly Ann Gurley of Leeds during the awards event at Jefferson State Community College.
June 2004...Installation of 2004-2005 officers was conducted at the dinner part in George Little dining room of Jefferson State Community College. Executive Chef Joseph Mitchell and his staff prepared a wonderful five course meal. Our $21,000 check for the Bone Densitometry Area Women's Center at Medical Center East was to Matt Holbrooks, Executive First Vice President of Eastern Health Systems. Our Scholarship winner, Kimberly Gurley expressed her appreciation to the membership. The Founder's Award was presented to Jo Markham.

August 2004...Diane and Grady Payne hosted the summer social at their home in Trussville. They also prepared a delicious meal that was enjoyed by all who attended.
October 2004...The EWCF was recognized by the Eastern Health Foundation as a member of the "Legacy" of contributors. The Committee received a plaque and an artist rendering of Medical Center East.
November 2004...The annual White Elephant Auction was another wonderful success. With the "Auction Angel" spreading her fairy dust over the crowd, $1,948.61 was raised toward our charity. A large crowd enjoyed the antics of the auctioneers Linda Hooton and Lea Amos.
December 2004...Once again the EWCF headed by Jo Jones' committee, transformed the atrium of Medical Center East into a beautiful Christmas setting as we hosted the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. A large crowd enjoyed the displays and the holiday music. Our annual Christmas Party was held at Grayson Valley Country Club. Diane Payne planned a festive occasion with great food for our enjoyment.
January 2005...The EWCF made their annual donation of $600 to the Shepherd Center. Betty Hurst and Betty Nash continue to represent the Committee on the Shepherd Center board.
February 2005...The EWCF voted to contribute $1,250.00 to Camp Bluebird, a camp for adult cancer patients. The contribution was made through the Eastern Health Foundation.
